Gujarat’s Deputy CM Harsh Sanghavi gave us a glimpse of Surat’s diamond-themed Metro trains. He posted photos with the caption, “Surat’s identity, now riding with its future! The Surat Metro is bringing the spirit of the world-renowned ‘Diamond City’ into its design, with diamond-inspired elements adorning Metro trains, ceilings and infrastructure. A Metro that doesn’t just connect Surat, it reflects the city’s unique identity.”
Inside the train, you can see geometric patterns inspired by diamond facets and different diamond cuts. The ceiling of the train looks beautiful with these multicolour patterns. The trains also have red doors, beige floors and silver handrails.

The Diamond Theme Goes Beyond The Trains
The diamond theme in Surat goes beyond just Metro trains. It is also reflected in the Metro stations. According to NDTV, the Dream City Metro station has been designed in the shape of a diamond. The station is located near the Surat Diamond Bourse.
Surat Metro also has some unique features. Maskati and Labheshwar stations will be built about 110 feet below the ground and will have two levels. The Metro will get power through a third rail, so there will be no overhead electric wires or poles. The project is also focused on the environment, with the route changed in Adajan to save a 700-year-old tree and over 3,000 new trees planted at the Dream City Depot.
