If you’ve ever reached the airport feeling like the main character, only to be humbled by a 25-kg suitcase in front of an empty luggage trolley, welcome to the party. Somehow, the hardest part of flying isn’t airport security or delayed flights; it’s that one awkward moment where you’re expected to magically lift your suitcase from the floor onto the trolley while pretending it doesn’t weigh as much as a small elephant. And that’s exactly the problem Kamiya Jani has a fix for.
What Is Kamiya Jani’s Airport Hack?
The Curly Tales founder recently took to her Instagram Stories to share a luggage-loading trick that looks very simple, but once you see it, you’ll probably wonder why nobody taught us this years ago.
Here’s what most of us do. We stand directly behind the trolley, bend down, grab the suitcase with both hands, and attempt to lift the entire thing in one go. If your bag is packed to the airline’s weight limit, you’re essentially doing a deadlift in the middle of the airport.
Kamiya Jani’s method changes the mechanics here. Instead of facing the trolley, she stands sideways next to it. Her body is positioned parallel to the side of the trolley rather than behind it, giving her much better leverage over the suitcase.
She then grabs the top portion of the suitcase and pulls it towards the trolley until one side of the bag is resting against the trolley’s metal frame. That contact point is the secret. Rather than forcing yourself to lift the suitcase’s entire weight off the ground, you let the trolley do some of the work.

How Kamiya Jani’s Sideways-Slide Method Works
With the suitcase now touching the trolley, she simply gives it a controlled push. The bag slides over the edge instead of being lifted into the air. In one smooth motion, it glides onto the trolley and naturally settles into a horizontal position.
Even after people somehow manage to lift a heavy suitcase, many end up placing it awkwardly on the trolley. The luggage sits upright, shifts while walking, or feels unstable around turns. Kamiya Jani’s technique places the suitcase flat from the very beginning, making it much more secure while you’re navigating crowded terminals.

So the next time you’re standing beside an airport trolley, staring at a suitcase that suddenly feels twice as heavy as it did while packing at home, don’t rush into lifting it. Try Kamiya Jani’s sideways-slide method instead. Your back might thank you before your flight even takes off.
