Pune Imposes Strict Safety Rules For Top Tourist Spots

As per a report by the Free Press Journal, the restrictions apply to tourist locations like Lohagad Fort, Visapur Fort, Tikona Fort, Tung Fort, Tiger Point, Lion’s Point, Shivling Point, Karla Caves, Bhaje Caves and the Pavana Dam area.

Under the new rules, tourists are prohibited from entering deep water, sitting beneath waterfalls, taking selfies near cliffs or other dangerous spots, and participating in activities that could endanger their lives. Officials have also increased surveillance and monitoring at these locations to ensure compliance with the safety measures.

The authorities have also advised tourists to avoid playing loud music, creating noise pollution or littering water bodies. Travellers have been warned against driving vehicles into water and engaging in dangerous stunts at tourist spots. Officials stated that anyone found violating the rules will face legal action under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023.

Dudhivare Khind Road Temporarily Closed

The decision has been welcomed by local citizens, who say many tourists ignore warning signs and go into unsafe areas despite repeated cautions. They have asked visitors to follow the rules and prioritise safety during the monsoon season.

Meanwhile, the Dudhivare Khind road, which links Pavana in Maval with Lonavla, has been presently closed to allow the installation of protective safety nets. The administration has arranged alternate routes for travellers travelling between Pune and Pavana, as well as Lonavla and Pavana, and said the road will reopen once the work is completed.
