PM Narendra Modi Inaugurates New Airport In Bihar
During his Bihar visit, PM Narendra Modi inaugurated the interim terminal building at the New Civil Enclave of Purnea Airport. He was accompanied by Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Governor Arif Mohammed Khan, and Deputy Chief Ministers Vijay Kumar Sinha and Samrat Choudhary.
According to Moneycontrol, Purnear Airport is the first airport in Bihar’s Seemanchal region. The new airport will be a big relief for flyers from districts like Araria, Kishanganj, Purnea, and Katihar, who currently have to travel long distances to catch a flight. As Seemanchal is a major hub for makhana and corn production, better air connectivity will help these industries grow. It is also expected that this new airport will boost the local economy.
The airport is not entirely operational yet, but one terminal building has been opened now. With the airport terminal’s inauguration now, airlines like IndiGo and Star Air are likely to begin direct flights from Purnea Airport to Kolkata and Ahmedabad soon, reported Hindustan Times.
