On May 18, a passenger train coach travelling from Sasaram to Patna was gutted after a massive fire broke out at Sasaram Junction. Visuals circulating online showed thick smoke rising from the coach as fire personnel tried to douse the blaze.
Fire Breaks Out In Sasaram-Patna Train In Bihar
The Sasaram-Patna Fast Passenger train was scheduled to depart around 6 AM on Monday morning. According to NDTV, one of the train’s coach caught fire while it was stationed at Platform 6 of Sasaram Junction. Initial reports suggest that the fire may have been caused by a short circuit.
The massive blaze triggered panic among passengers, who immediately deboarded the train at the Bihar railway station. Railway Police personnel and fire brigade teams rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control. However, the affected coach was completely gutted.
Railway authorities are currently detaching the damaged coach from the train. The train schedule is likely to be adjusted, and services will resume only after a thorough inspection.

Rajdhani Train To Delhi Caught Fire In Madhya Pradesh
The train fire incident in Bihar comes a day after a similar incident involving the Thiruvananthapuram-Hazrat Nizamuddin Rajdhani Express on Sunday. A train coach caught fire in Madhya Pradesh’s Ratlam district. The coach was carrying 68 passengers, all of whom were evacuated within 15 minutes. Thankfully, no casualties were reported.
According to India Today, the fire broke out between Vikramgarh Alot and Lunirichha stations under the Kota railway division. The train had departed from Ratlam Junction at around 3:45 AM. The Indian Railways has ordered a high-level inquiry into the cause of the fire. A nationwide audit of fire safety systems and related mechanisms in train coaches across the railway network is also expected to be conducted soon.
