Pani puri, or gol gappe, is the ultimate comfort food for most Indians! Those crispy puris stuffed with ragda or aloo and dunked in spicy or sweet-tangy water, that’s what we call pure bliss. So you can imagine how taken aback we (and pretty much every Indian street-food lover) were when we stumbled upon a video of a barista making pani puri with a coffee filling. And as you can imagine, the internet had a lot to say about it, too!
Coffee Pani Puri, Anyone?
Indian barista Vishal Bharti (@vishal_barista007) recently took to Instagram to showcase his rather questionable innovation—coffee pani puri! In the video, he replaces traditional fillings like aloo, chana, and even ragda with a shot of black coffee. He then goes on to top it off with frothed milk and even creates latte art on it.
Vishal then hilariously goes on to take a bite of the coffee pani puri himself, and while he doesn’t say a word about the taste, the side-eye he gives at the end says it all. Now, we know this was just a fun reel and not an actual dish by the barista, but seeing our beloved pani puri being tortured with a shot of coffee instead of pani definitely hit a sour note in our hearts!

Netizens Have A Lot To Say About His New ‘Flavour’!
As you can imagine, the internet has a lot to say about the pani puri filled with coffee! Someone in the comments called the dish ‘Puri-ccino’, and while we hate the pani puri torture here, we can’t help but laugh out loud at that. Many even took to GIFs to share the disappointment with the pani puri ‘flavour’.
“Wars have started for lesser things,” one user hilariously wrote.
Resonating the feelings of many, someone in the comments wrote, “Nooooo, I mean whyyy?!”
“No, please, no!” Another user sharply rejected the idea of pani puri with coffee.
“Yeah toh try karna padega,” an adventurous foodie said in the comments.
