Remember the unusual wearable that Zomato founder Deepinder Goyal was spotted wearing on the side of his head? Well, his much-talked-about brain-monitoring device, Temple, is now available for pre-orders in India. Priced at ₹85,000, the wearable can be ordered through its dedicated app as well as the company’s official website.

What Is Deepinder Goyal’s Temple And What Does It Do?

Unlike your regular smartwatch or fitness band, which tracks steps, heart rate and sleep, Deepinder Goyal’s Temple is designed to monitor signals associated with the brain. The compact, pill-shaped wearable sits on the side of the head, between the forehead and the ear, and uses optical sensors to track cerebral blood flow and oxygenation.

The company calls this technology BrainFlow. It is designed to help users understand physiological changes linked to stress, exercise and recovery.

Temple also comes with an Entropy score, which ranges from 1 to 250 and is intended to indicate physiological strain. Factors such as sleep, stress, exercise and caffeine intake can influence this score.

The device is attached to the skin using adhesive strips called Grips, which help keep it in place during everyday activities.

The pre-order window for Indian customers opened on November 1 at 9:30 PM. Those interested in getting their hands on the device can prepare their orders through the Temple app or visit its official website, temple.com. However, don’t expect it to arrive at your doorstep immediately. Each unit is made to order, and deliveries are expected to take around three months from the date of purchase.

The early-access listing indicates that the price includes a lifetime subscription, although buyers should check the final payment details displayed during checkout.

The wearable will be available in six colour options: True Gold, Rose Gold, Black Mirror, Real Jade, Deep Blue and Purple Funk. Real Jade, Deep Blue and Purple Funk are being offered as limited-edition colours.
