DMRC announced the closure of 16 stations across the metro network in the Capital due to security concerns on Wednesday. According to The Indian Express, a multi-layered security arrangement has been put in place around Connaught Place, Jantar Mantar, Rafi Marg, Parliament Street and other sensitive areas to maintain law and order in the city.
As of now, Delhi Metro has shut down the following stations:
1. Lok Kalyan Marg
2. Rajiv Chowk
3. Patel Chowk
4. Ramakrishna Ashram Marg
5. Barakhambha Road
6. Supreme Court
7. Seva Teerth
8. Janpath
9. Mandi House
10. Central Secretariat
11. ITO
12. Delhi Gate
13. Indraprastha
14. Khan Market
15. Jor Bagh
16. Shivaji Stadium

Several Metro Stations Were Previously Shut As Well
In an update on X, DMRC announced, “Due to Security reasons, Janpath, Rajiv Chowk, Patel Chowk and Central Secretariat metro stations have been closed till further instructions. Interchange facility is available at Rajiv Chowk and Central Secretariat.”
Earlier, on July 20, the Delhi Metro had also temporarily shut five metro stations due to security reasons. Although the closure lasted only a few hours, it disrupted the travel plans of several commuters, including office-goers and students. Services were later restored, allowing passengers to once again enter, exit and interchange at these stations.
