The Delhi government is planning to boost the capital's infrastructure and welfare with projects worth ₹3,000 crore. These initiatives will focus on improving water supply, sewage and drainage systems, and road networks.

Delhi is constantly evolving to meet the needs of its millions of residents, and for this, the ₹3,000-crore development push is already in motion. The infrastructure and welfare development in India’s capital is planned to happen during Seva Pakhwada (September 17- October 2) and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday. 13 Projects To Improve Delhi’s Water & Sanitation Systems

The upcoming projects in Delhi will focus on improving water, sewage, drainage and road networks in the city. The aim is to make the capital cleaner, safer and enhance connectivity. The Delhi Jal Board will reveal 13 projects that will strengthen the city’s water and sanitation systems, according to NDTV.

These projects will include –

1. A new sewer network in Sonia Vihar to close long-standing sanitation gaps
2. A Master Balancing Reservoir at Palla to improve water storage and distribution
3. A new Underground Reservoir at Bijwasan to stabilise the water supply for South-West Delhi.

The infrastructure and welfare development projects in the capital also include upgrading the Okhla Sewage Treatment Plant, one of Delhi’s largest. It will enhance efficiency and decrease pollution in the Yamuna. To give more people access to clean water and better sewage management, various new sewage and water treatment plants are planned to be built across Delhi. Also, the Public Works Department (PWD) will introduce the Delhi Drainage Master Plan. It will be a long-term project focusing on Delhi’s drainage system.

Road And Safety Projects In Delhi

East Delhi will get the Nand Nagri Flyover, which will ease traffic and cut travel time for long journeys. Also, a foundation will be set up for the Foot Over Bridge at Rajputana Rifles. It will enhance pedestrian movement and safety in the regiment area. The projects planned in Delhi will focus on water shortages, Yamuna pollution, traffic congestion, and monsoon flooding.

In talks with NDTV, Delhi’s PWD and Water Department Minister Parvesh Verma described these new initiatives as  “essential upgrades for the capital”. From flyovers to water pipelines, the projects worth ₹3,000 crores are lined up to make Delhi healthier and cleaner.
