Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations this year have been nothing short of impressive. From the majestic Lalbaugcha Raja to Mumbaicha Raja, the famous pandals have been glowing with grandeur and devotion. But what truly stood out were the many creative ways in which people showcased their ideas for Ganesh Utsav 2025. Not just clay or bamboo, devotees went beyond and created eco-friendly Ganesha pandals using books, fruits, veggies, and so much more. Don’t believe us? Take a look below!

6 Eco-Friendly Ganesha Pandals In India

1. Apple Ganesha Pandal

One of the most talked-about pandals this year was installed in Odisha. This eco-friendly idol was crafted entirely using 1,500 kg of bright red apples. Made with devotion and love, the apple Ganesha caught everyone’s attention, and its photos went viral on social media. This is creativity at its best!

2. Potato Ganesha


Aditi Mittal is a multimedia artist known for resin art and home decor. For Ganesh Chaturthi 2025, she made an eco-friendly pandal with a 5-foot idol crafted entirely out of potatoes. Moreover, she also stated on her Insta account that the ‘Annadata’s gift’ symbolised that divinity can be found in the simplest of things.

3. Dry Fruit Ganesha


The Shri Sai Darshan Mitra Mandal in Malad went all out with their eco-friendly pandal this year. They created a 9.5-foot idol made with paper, cardboard and discarded shells of nuts and dry fruits. Pistachios, almonds, cashews, macadamia and walnuts were all part of the design. Furthermore, it reportedly took four months to complete this divine masterpiece.

4. Ganesh Idol Made With Books


In Manali, Chennai, devotees crafted an idol entirely out of 7,500 sacred books. The collection included 5,000 Bhagavad Gitas, 1,500 Vel Viruthams and 1,008 Murugan Kavasams. Moreover, creating a divine idol from devotional texts was a sight in itself, and the unique pandal has already gone viral on social media.

5. Girgaoncha Raja

The famous Girgaoncha Raja in Mumbai stood tall at 24 feet, and this year, it was completely eco-friendly. The artisans crafted this idol with shadu mati (clay) and designed the pandal decor using bamboo. Moreover, they completely avoided plastic and thermocol in the pandal, setting a positive example of sustainable Ganesh Utsav celebrations. 

6. Kaju Ganesha

Cuttack also joined the list of unique creations with its Kaju Ganesha. Sangram Club, a community centre in Cuttack, crafted this idol using 11 kg of cashews, 5 kg of cinnamon and 2.5 kg of star anise. A creative and eco-friendly take on Ganesh Chaturthi!
