Turns out, the alkaline water you were chugging down might not be as healthy as you think! According to The Economic Times, India’s food safety regulator uncovered significant lapses in both quality standards and labelling practices in alkaline water produced by a Vadodara-based company in Gujarat.
Acting on a consumer complaint filed through the Food Safety Connect portal, FSSAI’s western regional office initiated an investigation and subsequently took strict action against the manufacturer. The complaint alleged that the Food Business Operator (FBO) had not adequately addressed customer concerns, prompting a detailed inspection of its facility in Savli.
During the inspection, officials flagged multiple irregularities related to the product’s quality and packaging, raising serious concerns about compliance with food safety norms.
