No More Physical Stamping On Boarding Passes
When flying internationally from India, we have to go through the often time-consuming immigration clearance process. During this process, immigration officials check your passport, visa, boarding pass and other documents to confirm your identity and ensure you’re allowed to travel. Earlier, immigration officials would also physically stamp your boarding pass.
However, physical boarding pass stamping meant an additional manual step, which could take extra time, especially during busy hours. According to Times Now the Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu has announced that the process is being digitised from September 1, 2026. This means passengers will no longer need to get their boarding passes physically stamped during international departures.

Indian Airports Go Digital For International Travellers
The Union Civil Aviation Minister has said that international travellers can now simply present their e-boarding pass on their phone at the airport. This step also aims to reduce paper usage, with more than 1.2 lakh papers used for boarding passes every year.
But wait! It’s not compulsory for all travellers to use an e-boarding pass. You can still carry a physical boarding pass if you prefer. However, if you want to spend less time during the clearance process, opting for an e-boarding pass could be a smarter choice.
