Milk has been an important part of our routine. Many people have a habit of drinking plain milk in the morning, while some make tea, coffee and many other things with it. It has a permanent place in our kitchens. Now, the Karnataka government has decided to hike milk prices from November 1. Here’s why the government took this decision!
Why Did Karnataka Increase Milk Prices?
On Thursday, the Karnataka Cabinet announced the decision to increase milk prices by ₹8 per litre. Minister Krishna Byre Gowda announced the decision. According to a Times Now report, of the ₹8 increase, farmers will get ₹7, while ₹1 will go to milk cooperatives. This decision was taken after farmers raised concerns about their low earnings.
Milk cooperatives also asked the government to increase the prices. The minister said the Cabinet discussed this issue two or three times before everyone agreed on the decision. The representatives asked for a ₹10 hike, but the government felt it was too much and decided on an ₹8 increase instead.

How Will The Price Hike Benefit The Producers?
At present, Karnataka farmers earn around ₹35 for every litre of milk they sell and get ₹5 as extra financial support from the government. Now, with the price hike, farmers will get ₹42 per litre and will continue to receive ₹5. As per Times Now, Krishna Byre Gowda said the government listened to the demands of farmers and milk cooperatives before deciding to increase milk prices.
With the price hike, the government aims to help lakhs of farming families, and we definitely agree with the decision. After all, farmers deserve fair prices for the hard work they put in every day.
