Indian Railways has approved a new daily Mumbai-Sawantwadi Express, boosting rail connectivity between Mumbai and Maharashtra’s Konkan area. The new train service is expected to benefit tourists, students, business travellers, daily commuters and residents by providing a direct rail link along the scenic Konkan route. Mumbai-Sawantwadi Express
The train will run daily between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT), Mumbai, and Sawantwadi Road, covering approximately 510 km. It will run as Train No. 15087 from Mumbai to Sawantwadi Road and Train No. 15088 on the return journey.
The express train will stop at many important stations en route, including Dadar, Thane, Panvel, Pen, Roha, Mangaon, Veer, Khed, Chiplun, Savarda, Aravali Road, Sangameshwar Road, Ratnagiri, Adavali, Valivade, Rajapur Road, Vaibhavwadi Road, Nandgaon Road, Kankavli, Sindhudurg, Kudal and Sawantwadi Road.

According to the Ministry of Railways, the new service aims to boost connectivity between the Mumbai Metropolitan Region and important towns across the Konkan belt, making travel easier for passengers travelling for tourism, education, employment, business and other purposes.
Train To Boost Konkan Tourism
As per reports by The Indian Express, the train is also expected to promote tourism by offering better travel access to the Konkan region’s beaches, forts, temples and other key attractions. Additionally, it is likely to benefit traders, small businesses and residents by improving passenger movement across the region.
The Ministry also stated that the introduction of the Mumbai-Sawantwadi Express reflects Indian Railways’ continued focus on expanding passenger connectivity, improving travel convenience and supporting balanced regional development through a stronger railway network.
