Maharashtra Weather Update: IMD Issues Heatwave Alert, Temperatures May Hit 42°C & Rise In Humidity

Summer has arrived in India, and in Maharashtra, it always hits hard. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned people in Mumbai, Pune, and other areas to prepare for hotter days ahead with rising temperatures. Read on to know how the weather in Mumbai will be in the next few days.

What’s The Weather Like In Mumbai?

The summer heat in Maharashtra is getting worse. According to Mid Day, the IMD has issued a heatwave alert for the state, as temperatures are expected to rise by around 2–3°C in the coming days. Central Maharashtra and Vidarbha are expected to face the harshest heat, while Mumbai and nearby coastal areas will deal more with humidity.

In Pune, the temperature has already touched 40.6°C, which is the highest of the season so far. Weather experts say it can go up to around 42°C soon if conditions stay dry. Cities like Satara, Sangli, Kolhapur, Solapur, and Pune in central Maharashtra may continue to see temperatures above 41°C. The skies will stay mostly clear, and rain is not expected anytime soon.

Weather In Other Cities

Northern parts of the state, including Nashik, Ahilyanagar, Jalgaon, Dhule, and Nandurbar, will also stay dry. As per Mid Day, temperatures there are likely to stay between 34°C and 39°C. Marathwada is also facing very dry conditions. The absence of clouds and moisture has made the heat stronger there. Some districts in this region may soon officially fall under heatwave conditions if the temperature keeps rising.

Vidarbha remains one of the hottest regions right now. Cities like Akola, Chandrapur, and Nagpur have already crossed 42°C. During the afternoon, streets are looking empty as people try to avoid the intense heat and risk of heatstroke.

Places like Thane, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg feel uncomfortable due to humidity. Day temperatures there stay around 32°C to 34°C. However, high humidity makes it feel like 38°C to 40°C, especially during afternoons.

Health experts are advising people to take extra care, especially children and those spending time outdoors.
