Torrential monsoon rains in Mumbai have not just caused waterlogging and traffic snarls in the city but have also disrupted flight operations at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport. Many airlines have taken to social media to issue travel advisories for passengers to minimise inconvenience.

Heavy Rain Hit Flight Operations In Mumbai


Mumbai is currently witnessing severe weather due to heavy rain. The weather has severely disrupted flight operations at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport on July 6, 2026. A senior Mumbai airport official shared with The Indian Express that five flights had been diverted due to rain until 3:30 pm.

IndiGo issued a travel advisory for its passengers and wrote on its official X account that due to heavy rain, flights to and from Mumbai and Pune are impacted. Travellers were also advised to check their flight status on the website or app before heading to  the airport.


Not just that, SpiceJet and Air India also issued similar advisories for passengers. Air India flights to and from Delhi were also impacted due to the bad weather in Mumbai.

Several Flights Cancelled & Diverted

According to Moneycontrol, a total of 17 arriving and departing domestic and international flights were cancelled during the day. Five flights were also diverted to alternate airports. Akasa Air also cancelled flights to Navi Mumbai International Airport. Many flights in Mumbai, Pune and Goa also faced delays.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a red alert for Mumbai, Thane and Raigad districts, forecasting heavy to very heavy rainfall. Residents are being advised to stay indoors and avoid stepping out unnecessarily.
