No Ola, Uber, Rapido In India On Feb 7; Here’s What You Must Know

Ola Uber rapido

Uber, Ola, and Rapido have become an essential part of daily commuting, whether for short trips or long rides. However, cab drivers working with these platforms are facing serious issues related to income and working conditions. To highlight these concerns, the Telangana App-Based Drivers Forum (TADF) has announced an “All-India Breakdown.”

No Ola, Uber & Rapido On February 7

On Tuesday, February 3, TADF confirmed that Ola, Uber, and Rapido drivers will take part in a nationwide strike on February 7. Why? As per Oneindia, drivers say they are protesting against unfair practices by ride-hailing platforms. Even after the government introduced the Motor Vehicle Aggregator Guidelines, 2025, drivers continue to face severe financial pressure.

According to drivers, aggregator companies still decide fares without clear or transparent methods. They claim platforms ignore the intent of the new guidelines and continue to control pricing on their own terms. This lack of transparency has made incomes unstable, forcing many drivers to work long hours while struggling with debt and uncertain livelihoods.

How Are Commuters Affected?

TADF said these practices also impact commuters. According to Oneindia, surge pricing and weak regulatory oversight often lead to higher fares for passengers. The forum also raised concern over the absence of a government-notified minimum base fare. It criticised both the central and state governments for the delay.

Drivers are demanding an immediate announcement of minimum base fares and a ban on using private, non-commercial vehicles for app-based rides. They are also asking for fair wages through transparent pay systems and incentives that reflect actual working hours and expenses. They also asked platforms to stop arbitrary ID blocks and penalties without proper explanation. Other demands included better safety measures, accident insurance, fair work allocation without algorithm bias, and respectful treatment by platforms and customers.
