Virat Kohli Talks About His Love For Delhi Food
Virat Kohli has often spoken about his fondness for chole bhature, a dish he associates with his Punjabi roots and Delhi upbringing. In a 2023 interview with The Indian Express, he called it an all-time favourite and said he indulges in a plate whenever he gets the opportunity. He has also named Ram’s Chole Bhature in Rajouri Garden as his preferred spot for the dish.
His love for hearty Indian food extends to rajma chawal as well. During a conversation with Sunil Chhetri, Kohli once described his ideal food day, which included chole bhature, lassi, two plates of rajma chawal, dal makhani, paneer kulcha and garlic naan. He even included gulab jamun with ice cream and cassata for dessert.

From Japanese Cuisine To A More Plant-Based Diet
Kohli’s interest in Japanese food is not a recent development. During a BCCI video interview in 2016, he revealed that Japanese cuisine was among his favourites, adding that he could eat it three times a day throughout the week. His everyday eating habits, however, have become more focused on fitness and nutrition. Kohli has spoken about prioritising balanced meals and getting the right mix of nutrients and protein while leaving room for occasional indulgences.

He also clarified in 2021 that he follows a vegetarian diet, not a vegan one. His food choices have since been associated with dishes such as tofu, salads, sprouts, pulses and vegetables. From the chole bhature he grew up loving to his long-standing interest in Japanese cuisine and a more disciplined approach to everyday meals, Kohli’s food journey reflects the balance he maintains between familiar favourites and the demands of professional sport.
Wishing King Kohli a very Happy Birthday.
