Swing At The Surajkund Fair In Faridabad Collapses

The incident took place on Saturday evening between 6 pm and 6:30 pm at the Surajkund Mela in Haryana. According to Hindustan Times, an onlooker recorded a video that later went viral on social media. The video shows the swing ride running at high speed. Suddenly, one side of its supporting pillars gave way. The swing tilted and crashed to the ground while people were still on it.
As per Hindustan Times, inspector Jagdish Prasad, who was deployed at the fair for security duty, lost his life in the incident. According to reports, he joined the rescue efforts immediately after the collapse. During the operation, debris fell on him and caused severe head injuries. Authorities rushed him to a nearby hospital. However, doctors could not save him, and he died during treatment.

People Injured In The Collapse
At least 13 people suffered injuries in the accident. Officials shifted all injured people to the hospital for medical care. Police also said that a stall operator got hurt during the collapse. A grill from the swing struck his shoulders and injured him.
According to The Indian Express, about an hour before the swing collapsed, another accident took place at the fair. A gate near the Food Court suddenly fell. It was because of sudden winds, leaving one man and a child injured. The injured man was identified as Sumit Malhotra.
After the state government ordered an investigation into the swing collapse, Faridabad Police formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT). Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime) Varun Dahiya is leading the team. Haryana Tourism Minister Arvind Sharma visited the injured victims and said authorities have registered an FIR against the vendor responsible for the ride. He assured that strict action will be taken and that no one involved will be spared.
