As per the report shared by Justdial, domestic tourism has seen a significant increase, with travel searches going up by 47% in 2025. Spiritual tourism also continues to see a boom in the country. The report showed Char Dham package booking rose by 73%, while Kedarnath and Ayodhya witnessed 39% and 40% boosts, respectively. Other popular pilgrimage spots like Shirdi also witnessed a surge of 10%, showing that people are still very interested in religious travels.

Hill stations and leisure travel also saw strong growth. Searches for Kashmir went up 78%, Kerala by 82%, and Munnar by 80%. Other scenic destinations like Ooty, Shimla, and Darjeeling recorded a strong consumer interest with a surge of 51%, 57%, and 60%, respectively. Beach and short-access destinations were popular too, with Manali up 53%, Goa by 27%, Mahabaleshwar by 21%, and even Ashtavinayak saw a minor 6% increase.

Indians Are Now Travelling More!

Searches for overseas travel also surged by 44%, according to the Justdial report. The report noted a major demand in short-haul destinations. For international travel, searches for Nepal went up 78%, Thailand by 70%, and Dubai by 41%. Religious and cultural trips also grew steadily, with Umrah package bookings reporting a 7% increase, showing that Indians are still interested in spiritual and heritage travel abroad.

The increase in travel searches can be due to many reasons. One reason is that people have more disposable income, giving them the means to spend on trips. Another factor is that fewer students are preferring to go abroad for studies, so more families are choosing domestic holidays. At the same time, there is a growing interest in short trips, leisure travel, and spiritual journeys.
