What Is Rohini Vrat And Its Importance?
The fast is observed on the day of Rohini Nakshatra, the fourth lunar constellation, after sunrise. Rohini is one of the twenty-seven Nakshatras in the Hindu and Jain calendars. According to the Free Press Journal, Lord Vasupujya swami, the twelfth Tirthankara in Jainism, is worshipped during Rohini Vrat. Devotees recite his mantra, “Om Hrim Shrim Vasupujya Jinendraaya Namah,” to invoke his blessings. In Hindu tradition, Lord Krishna and Goddess Lakshmi are also worshipped on this day.
This day is considered very auspicious, and those who observe the fast are believed to gain joy, prosperity, and relief from difficulties, especially concerning family welfare.

Did you know Rohini vrat is not observed only once? Yes! Rohini Vrat is observed twelve times a year. As per The Free Press Journal, some devotees maintain the fast continuously for three, five, or seven years. The recommended period is five years and five months. The first Rohini vrat of 2026 will be observed on Thursday, January 1.
On the day of Rohini vrat, devotees wake up early and take a bath before sunrise. They clean their homes with Gangajal and wear fresh, clean clothes. People also visit the temple of Lord Vasupujya or a local temple dedicated to Krishna or Vishnu. Prayers are offered with devotion, and fasting is maintained with discipline.
