Sanjeev Kapoor Reveals Underrated & Overrated Food Cities
In an ANI podcast with Smita Prakash, chef Sanjeev Kapoor was asked about underrated and overrated food cities in India, and honestly, his answers did raise a few eyebrows. According to him, Surat is an overrated city when it comes to food. On the other hand, he called Kolhapur an underrated food destination.
He went on to say that Kolhapur has all the powerful flavours. Chef also shared that he has personally tried the cuisine there and feels it deserves way more hype than it gets. When a chef like him talks about a cuisine, you know it’s serious business. He especially highlighted dishes like Tambda Rassa, Pandhara Rassa, and Kolhapuri mutton.

There has always been a debate about which city has better food between Mumbai and Delhi. Recently, chef Sanjeev Kapoor also shared his take on it and picked his favourite. He appreciated Delhi’s food scene overall, but also surprised many by calling sev puri an overrated street snack. Honestly, that opinion might divide chaat lovers instantly!
He also shared his thoughts on everyday kitchen ingredients and pointed out that black pepper is quite underrated. According to him, it often gets ignored in daily cooking, even though it adds a simple but powerful punch to food.
