How To Control Sweet Cravings?

The famous nutritionist Jinal Shah (@jinals89) often takes to social media to share tips on managing cravings and improving our health through the right nutrition. Now, once again, she has addressed a common problem, sweet cravings, by sharing some tips on how to manage them.

1. Skip tea and coffee

Instead of starting your day with tea or coffee, have some fruit or a handful of nuts first. To make this easier, keep them ready on your dining table or bedside the night before. This way, you’ll have a healthy option within reach and won’t be tempted to skip it in the morning.

2. Right meal proportions

If you have a habit of eating without knowing whether it’s the right quantity or not, it’s time to change that. Your plate should have 50% grains like rice or roti, 30–35% dal, sabzi or meat, and the remaining 10–15% for sides such as salad, pickle or buttermilk. With this, you can make your meal balanced and nutritious.

3. Avoid late-night snacking

To avoid late-night snacking, make sure you have a wholesome meal between 4–6 PM. During this time, you can have poha, upma, a sandwich, roti with ghee and jaggery, banana or even a laddoo. This meal will help keep your stomach fuller and avoid any unnecessary cravings.
