Swiggy has expanded its popular Food on Train service to more than 115 stations across 28 states and union territories. The platform now promises fresh, restaurant-quality meals that passengers can order right from their seats. With this move, Swiggy strengthens its network across railway stations and makes the service more accessible to families, students, and tourists travelling on some of India’s busiest routes.
Swiggy Expands Its Food On Train Service

For those who don’t know, Swiggy’s Food on Train is run in partnership with IRCTC. The service allows passengers to order food from their favourite restaurants, which gets delivered straight to their seats at select railway stations. Now, with 115 more stations added to the network, travellers across key hubs like Madgaon, Mangalore, Ernakulam, Tirupati, Kurnool, Rajahmundry, Ahmednagar, Habibganj, Nagda, Palanpur, Chhapra, Sawai Madhopur, Jodhpur, and Jalandhar can also enjoy the service.
To make the experience even better, Swiggy has introduced regional festive favourites to the menu. Passengers can now savour Malvani fish curry on the Konkan line, Kerala Sadya in Kochi, Mangalorean gravies, Goan rice plates, vibrant Gujarati thalis, and rich Rajasthani delicacies.
The Rise Of “Order For Others”
Along with expansion, Swiggy has noticed a heartwarming trend of people using the platform to send meals to their loved ones on trains. Its Order for Others option now accounts for nearly 14% of all Food on Train orders. Most of these are simple, homestyle meals like vegetarian thalis, rice bowls, fruit plates, and sandwiches, the kind of food that makes travel more comforting.
For the millions of passengers spending long hours on trains, pantry car food has always been limited. Swiggy’s service aims to change that. With smart PNR-based delivery logistics, meals can reach passengers even if a train halts for just two minutes. Furthermore, the service operates daily from 6 am to 11 pm. It covers college hubs, temple towns, and major tourist destinations across India.
Commenting on the expansion, Mr. Deepak Maloo, VP-Food Strategy, Customer Experience and New Initiatives at Swiggy, said, “Food has been an important part of the overall train travel experience, and Swiggy is committed to making this a memorable one. Passengers no longer have to rely only on pantry cars or hurried snack runs at stations for their meals on trains. With Food on Train, Swiggy brings fresh, quality meals right to their seats.”
