Kerala Witnesses Tourist Boom

Tourism Minister P A Mohamed Riyas highlighted that the state is experiencing back-to-back growth in tourist arrivalssignallingng Kerala’s growing popularity as a travel hotspot. As per The New Indian Express, the official data shows that 2,58,80,365 people visited Kerala in 2025, surpassing the previous year’s record of 2,29,85,363 tourists.

Domestic travellers really stole the show in Kerala last year! The state welcomed 2,50,58,366 homegrown tourists, up from 2,22,46,989 in 2024, that’s a 12.6% jump in just one year. This place also saw an 11.3% rise in foreign tourist arrivals. Last year, 8,21,999 international visitors came to Kerala from the UK, the US, Germany, France, Canada, Australia, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Oman, and the Maldives. These number proves that Kerala is back in everyone’s travel plans.

When it comes to districts, Idukki took the crown as the favourite spot for domestic visitors, hosting 46,79,800 tourists in 2025. Ernakulam wasn’t far behind with 44,29,899 people stopping by, followed by Thiruvananthapuram with 43,75,846, Thrissur with 31,24,696, Wayanad with 14,73,710, and Kozhikode with 14,69,253.
