People online notice everything. A single post can turn into a debate if users spot even the smallest detail. That’s exactly what happened when a woman shared a photo praising Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe. Instead of focusing on her message, people couldn’t stop talking about the McDonald’s wrapper in the picture. Read on to know why.

McDonald’s Wrapper In Photo Sparks Online Debate

Mumbai woman Meera (@imeerage) took to social media to praise Maharashtra FDA Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe for improving food safety. She shared the post during the FDA’s ongoing crackdown on unsafe food practices across Maharashtra. She said her domestic help often buys snacks from a roadside vendor in South Mumbai. Recently, she noticed that the vendor had stopped using old newspapers to wrap food and had started using food-grade wrapping paper instead.

She thanked the commissioner for this improvement in food safety. But soon, people started talking about the bhajiya wrapper in the photo instead. Many users claimed it looked like the packaging for McDonald’s “Egg Bacon & Biscuit,” a breakfast item sold only in the US.

Here’s What The Internet Thinks

Soon, the US McDonald’s food wrapper became the centre of discussion online, sparking a debate.

One netizen pointed out, “Egg Bacon & Biscuit is a menu item in USA McDonald’s. How did a random Mumbai street vendor find the wrapping paper for a US-exclusive McDonald’s menu item? Is there an international raddi wala? Because if this is some recycled or reused trash from first-world countries, it’s a biohazard.”

Another user explained, “Many global chains like McDonald’s, Subway and Taco Bell get some packaging made in India. Their QC is so strict that even tiny defects can cause an entire batch to be rejected. Some rejected stock is reportedly sold by these packaging manufacturers to street vendors, who end up using it.”
