India is gearing up for the election results in Assam, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, and Puducherry as vote counting began on Monday morning. Alongside this, political parties and sweet shops across these regions have started preparing for ‘sweet celebrations’ with themed mithai and special desserts. Scroll on to know more.
Sweet Celebrations Take Over West Bengal Ahead Of Election Results
With poll counting underway, sweet shops in West Bengal are celebrating India’s democracy with election-themed treats. Several outlets in Kolkata have trays of colourful sandesh and rosogollas, crafted in election fervour and stamped with party symbols and messages.
According to Telegraph India, sandesh at Balaram Mullick Radharaman Mullick currently features emblems of major political parties like Trinamool, BJP, CPM and Congress. Not just that, many sweet shops across the city have also colour-coded their popular rosogollas in green and saffron hues.
States Await Poll Results
Beyond sweet shops, political parties are also gearing up for the results with celebrations of their own. At the Bharatiya Janata Party’s Delhi headquarters, preparations began as early as 4 AM with jalebi and poori taking the centre stage.
While talking to ANI, the chef at the BJP’s HQ shared that his team is preparing a feast for 400-500 people, with a menu featuring sandwiches, aloo poori, poha and jalebi. Fresh fruits, lassi, rabri and traditional mishti doi are also on the menu.
In Kerala, The Economic Times reports that Congress and UDF workers are preparing biryani for over 5,000 people. As per reports, 16 large vessels have been arranged, each set to cook around 40 kg of rice for people and party workers.
