Soon you will be able to reach Delhi from Meerut in under 60 minutes! The Namo Bharat corridor is all set to transform the commute between these two cities and make travel much faster. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the metro line in Meerut on a 23 km track on February 22, making this possible. Here’s everything you need to know.
PM Modi To Inaugurate Meerut Metro And Namo Bharat Stretch
It is almost time for the inauguration of the much-anticipated Meerut Metro. According to reports, PM Narendra Modi will flag off the Namo Bharat rapid rail train from Sarai Kale Khan in Delhi to Meerut South. He will also inaugurate the 23 km metro track covering 13 stations. This 23 km track is the remaining stretch of the 82 km Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Namo Bharat corridor.
Reportedly, the metro will run at a speed of 120 km/h from Meerut South to Modipuram Depot. This 21 km stretch is now ready. The corridor is expected to improve connectivity between Meerut, Ghaziabad, Noida, Delhi and Gurugram. Commuters will be able to reach Delhi in just 55 minutes. The Meerut Metro is designed to carry around 700 passengers at a time

Timings & Other Key Features Of Metro
According to India.com, the train will arrive at every metro station in about 7 minutes. There are 13 metro stations on the route:
- Modipuram
- Modipuram Depot
- Meerut North
- Daurli
- MES Colony
- Begum Pul
- Bhaisali
- Meerut Central
- Brahmapuri
- Shatabdi Nagar
- Rithani
- Partapur
- Meerut South
Commuters will be able to take the rapid rail from Meerut South to Delhi or Ghaziabad. Authorities have designed these stations with modern amenities, including drinking water facilities, clean washrooms, and facilities for disabled passengers.
The trains are expected to run every 5-10 minutes during peak hours and every 10-15 minutes during off-peak hours. Expected timings are 6 am to 10 pm on weekdays and Saturdays, and 8 am to 10 pm on Sundays.
