Why Is The Venus-Jupiter Conjuction In June Special? How & Where To Watch This ‘Cosmic Kiss’ In India?

Venus-Jupiter Conjunction June

The Venus-Jupiter Conjunction of June 2026 is a major astronomical event where the two planets will appear unusually close. The planets will be separated by less than 2 degrees, and in astrology, this alignment is being called a ‘cosmic kiss’. Many skywatchers across India are excited to see it, and if you are too, then read on to know how and when you can watch it.

What Is The Venus-Jupiter Conjunction?

Shortly after sunset in the evening sky on June 8 and 9, 2026, Venus and Jupiter will appear unusually close. The alignment will create a striking visual, which has got many skywatchers and astrophiles excited. This alignment is called a planetary conjunction. It happens when two celestial bodies appear close together in the night sky, even though they remain far apart in space.

According to The Times of India, the alignment is a visual effect. It is caused by the planets appearing along a similar line of sight from Earth’s perspective as they orbit the Sun along the ecliptic, a path they follow across the sky. You will be delighted to know that no special equipment is needed to watch this ‘cosmic kiss’. It will be visible to the naked eye. However, binoculars can provide a much better view.

Observers will not need to wait until complete darkness to see the planets. Both Venus and Jupiter are bright enough to be visible just after sunset. Once the Sun sets, they will remain visible for roughly two to two-and-a-half hours above the western horizon in India.

Just after sunset, find an open area with a clear view of the western skyline. Make sure there are no obstructions in the view, such as tall buildings or trees. Some science centres and planetariums are hosting public viewing sessions for this special Venus-Jupiter Conjunction in June.
