Travel between Delhi and Siliguri in West Bengal is all set to get easier. Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw recently announced a bullet train project that will connect the national capital to Siliguri, a gateway to Northeast India. This bullet train is expected to cut travel time between these two destinations from 20 hours to just 6 hours!
Delhi-Siliguri Bullet Train Project Announced
India’s first bullet train, the Mumbai-Ahmedabad high-speed rail corridor, is all set to become operational in 2027. And now, we already have another bullet train project in the pipeline. Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw recently made the whole nation happy by announcing a new bullet train project connecting Delhi with Siliguri in West Bengal.
According to India Today, this new high-speed rail corridor will reduce travel time from 20 hours to just 6 hours! This is amazing, right? Travel from Delhi to the city located in the foothills of the Eastern Himalayas will become faster, easier, and smoother. The corridor will connect Delhi and Siliguri via Lucknow, Varanasi, and Patna.

More Railway Projects Planned For West Bengal
There are some other developments too. According to News18, the minister also revealed that railway funding for West Bengal has increased from ₹4,000 crore to ₹14,205 crore. This amount will be used to develop the railways in West Bengal. Moreover, 45 km of Metro lines have also been completed in Kolkata.
In the future, the government is planning many other advanced projects for the state. Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw also announced that 60 next-generation Metro rakes will be introduced in Kolkata over the next few years. It seems like the government is working hard to develop the railways in West Bengal. The Delhi-Siliguri bullet train project, however, has already got many people excited.
