MMRC To Add 46 Services To The Aqua Line

With the increase, the gap between trains during peak hours has been reduced from 4 minutes and 50 seconds to 4 minutes and 25 seconds. The move is expected to ease overcrowding, reduce waiting times and make daily travel more convenient for commuters. According to Mid-day, the number of services on the corridor has been increased in phases since full-route operations began between Aarey JVLR and Cuffe Parade. Daily trips were initially raised to 271, followed by an increase to 282 on June 23, 2026, and 291 on September 28, 2026.

The corporation aims to maintain reliable operations while improving the overall commuting experience.

Mumbai Metro Aqua Line Records 7.2 Crore Passenger Journeys In A Year

The increase in services comes after the Aqua Line recorded more than 7.2 crore passenger journeys in its first year of full-route operations. According to data shared by MMRC, the 33.5-km underground corridor recorded 7,20,88,738 passenger journeys during the period. The line connects Aarey JVLR in the western suburbs to Cuffe Parade in south Mumbai, passing through several key commercial, residential and transport hubs.
