Exclusive: Sonali Bendre Swears By This Weird Food Combination, Surprising Kamiya Jani

Kamiya Jani and Sonali Bendre sat down for a Sunday Brunch episode, where, while enjoying a spread of seafood delicacies, Sonali advised Kamiya to try Paplet Kothimbir. Sonali asked, “Aapne Paplet Kothimbir try kiya?” before taking a bite. As the conversation turned to the meaning of kothimbir, Kamiya guessed, “That’s kothmir, right?” Sonali quickly corrected her, explaining that kothimbir and koshimbir are different. “No, that’s kothambir… Koshimbir is more like a more like a calarey of of a thing,” she explained.

Sonali Bendre Shares Her Comfort Food

During the conversation, Sonali Bendre stated that moong dal khichdi with homemade lemon pickle by her mother is her ultimate comfort food. While chatting with Kamiya Jani, Sonali stated that her mother now lives on the floor below her so she gets to see her every day. She explained that as parents grow older, living close to them feels reassuring.

The conversation then shifted to childhood memories and food. Kamiya asked if Sonali missed her mother’s home after getting married and added, “Jab aap beemar hote ho na, tab hamesha mummy ki yaad aati hai.” Agreeing with the sentiment, Sonali said that whenever she falls ill, the first thing she craves is moong dal khichdi topped with ghee, paired with the homemade lemon pickle her grandmother (Aaji) used to prepare. She recalled that her mother later continued the same recipe, and the pickle would be aged for years until it turned almost black, developing a unique sweet-and-sour flavour.
