Indian Travellers Booked More OYO Rooms In Varanasi Than Goa On New Year’s Eve

OYO had an incredible New Year’s Eve all around the nation with a record-breaking booking of over 4.5 lakhs. With such a huge number, it makes the highest number of bookings per hotel per day in India in the period of the past 5 years. In fact, the number of bookings saw a surge of 35% in comparison to the last year. It is indeed a great way to ring in the new year, 2023.

OYO Saw A Massive Record Of Hotel Bookings On The Last Day Of 2022

The Founder & Group CEO of OYO, Ritesh Agarwal tweeted about the huge success of his company on New Year’s Eve. He talked about how the travel technology company had the “busiest day of the year” with “the highest bookings per hotel per day for India in the last 5 years today”.

He further tweeted with the caption, “It has been an amazing couple of days for all of us at OYO. Thanks to all our customers & patrons for trusting us this New Year’s weekend.”

Varanasi Is Ahead Of Goa In Hotel Bookings On The New Year’s Eve

Finally, tourists got the opportunity to explore and travel to their favourite destinations in 2022. With the ease of COVID restrictions, travellers flew everywhere they wanted to and this led to a massive surge of tourist footfall with a boost in the travel and tourism industry. In India, business and cultural trips were taken in a huge number and this too played a huge role in the Indian travel and tourism sector.

On the festive season of  2022 New Year’s Eve, OYO hotel bookings in Goa increased every hour. But Varanasi overtook Goa in bookings this time. Goa is one of India’s most popular and crowded destinations for the winter festive holiday season and this year, the number of OYO bookings saw a surge in Varanasi in comparison to Goa.

The annual travel trends index Travelopedia 2022 of OYO shows that bookings in small towns saw a surge, as shared in a press release. The report also states that the most visited Indian state in 2022 was Uttar Pradesh. Also, small towns like Hathras, Karaikudi, Sasaram, and Tenali witnessed the most rise in OYO hotel bookings in 2022 in comparison with 2021.
