Indian Travellers In UK Can Enjoy Hassle-Free Transactions As UPI Expands Globally

After Bhutan and Nepal, one of the most successful Real-Time Payments (RTP) systems, UPI is all set to expand more globally. Unified Payments Interface, popularly known as UPI, has now forayed into the UK market with QR code-based transactions. The NPCI International Payments Ltd (NIPL) has collaborated with payments solutions provider PayXpert to internationalize the acceptance of its payment solutions in the UK. On Thursday, NPCI said in a release that this collaboration will make the Indian payment solutions available in the UK and provide Indian travelers a familiar way to make payments in a foreign country.

NPCI Partners With PayXpert For Making UPI Available In The UK

With India’s NPCI International Payments Ltd collaborating with PayXpert, PayXpert now is UK’s first acquirer for UPI and Rupay. It will soon be possible for Indian travelers to make in-store payments in the UK through PayXpert’s solution.
“Indians traveling to the U.K. will be able to enjoy the benefits of UPI’s payments platform through PayXpert’s POS devices. This collaboration is an important milestone for us and we plan on augmenting the facility of RuPay card payments in the near future,” revealed Anubhav Sharma, Head of International Business – Partnership, Business Development & Marketing, NPCI International. This collaboration will make the Indian payment solutions available in the UK on all PayXpert’s android point-of-sale (POS) devices for in-store payments, starting with UPI-based QR code payments and later integrating the possibility for RuPay card payments,” NPCI said in a release on Thursday.

The Partnership Will Provide Indian Travellers In the UK With A Familiar And Convenient Way Of Payments

According to NPCI, the number of Indian travelers to the UK per year is over 5 lakh Indians, including over 1 lakh students. And they believe this number will see massive growth in the upcoming years.
The partnership will provide Indian travelers with a familiar and convenient way to make payments in the UK. Speaking on the same, David Armstrong, Managing Director, PayXpert in the UK, said that the collaboration will open up a new field of opportunity for the company in the UK and will also strengthen the capability of the company’s solution for UK merchants.
