Summer means breaking routine and embracing travel! This season is all about making memories, discovering new places, and reconnecting with the joy of exploration. Whether you wish to walk along a sandy beach or take a mountain hike, summer travel is all about taking up a new adventure. Skyscanner’s Smarter Summer Report also revealed how Indians are travelling with a ‘maximiser’ mindset this season, choosing a smarter, more budget-conscious, and experience-rich travel than ever before.

Indians Prefer To Travel To Calm & Crowd-Free Destinations This Summer

According to the report, a massive 96% of Indians are planning the same number or even more trips this summer compared to last year. Around 95% marked maximising their summer vacations as a top priority for 2025. Additionally, to stretch their budgets and enhance their travel experiences, many are carefully curating itineraries, staying flexible with travel dates, and exploring alternative destinations to avoid crowds and get the best value.

In fact, 58% of Indian travellers plan to explore places they haven’t considered before. Furthermore, showing a significant shift towards exploration and memorable getaways, 51% want to tick off multiple spots in one trip. One of the key notable changes is that travellers are choosing calm and crowd-free destinations over popular ones for travel this summer.

52% of Indian travellers are opting for quieter, less-crowded locations over the usual tourist hotspots. And it’s not just about the destination, it’s also about the timing. As per Skyscanner’s summer travel report, shoulder season is gaining traction among Indian travellers. 1 in 2 travellers are willing to travel during off-peak periods to sidestep crowds and inflated prices. This shift signals how people are moving away from the chaos of peak-season tourism toward a more thoughtful, intentional approach to summer travel.

Cooler Destinations For Holidays

So, where are Indians travelling this summer season? According to Skyscanner, 50% of Indian travellers are actively seeking destinations with cooler climates this season. People are choosing hill towns, mountains, and high-altitude getaways to travel during the summer of 2025.

This summer, flexibility is key. Skyscanner’s data show that 62% of travellers are actively seeking budget-friendly stays. 84% are open to moving their travel dates, and 47% are willing to fly on less popular days to unlock better deals and maximise their holiday budgets.
