Indian travellers are already gearing up for it and have made bookings. According to data provided by MakeMyTrip, a popular travel booking platform, there have been some interesting trends in booking for the I-Day long weekend. Here are some interesting details!

Travel Trends For The Independence Day Long Weekends

The popular travel booking platform MakeMyTrip has revealed some interesting details about the trends of travel emerging in Indian travellers. Indian travellers are continuing to capitalise on opportunities to plan short travels.

However, there has been a spike in the percentage of people booking flights within seven days of the date of departure. As compared to last year, a 30 per cent increase has been noted here. This indicates that many Indian travellers are starting to look beyond tariffs and prices.

There has also been an increase in the number of Indian travellers preferring to travel to luxury properties. When compared with the same period last year, there was a 22 per cent increase noted in this trend. This also indicates an increase in the penchant for resting and relaxing in the masses.

Goa, Cochin, and Bali Among The Most Preferred Destinations

According to the data, people from metropolitan areas like Bangalore, Delhi, and Mumbai prefer destinations like Goa and Srinagar when it comes to domestic travel. People of southern metropolitan cities like Bangalore and Hyderabad prefer destinations like Cochin and Coimbatore, as well as Vishakhapatnam for domestic travel.

From other parts of the country excluding metropolitan cities, the most popular travel destinations are Goa, Jaipur, Udaipur, Puri, Ooty, Mahabaleshwar, Munnar, Coorg, Varanasi, and Pondicherry, as well as Wayanad.

For International travel, the most popular destinations for Indian travellers are Dubai, Bali, Thailand, Europe, and Maldives, as well as Singapore. This means that Indians are undoubtedly looking forward to the long weekend.
