Indians Busy With Workcations, Europeans Love Roadtrips; Reveals Study

After conducting a detailed consumer survey, OYO has found out that workcation had been the dominating travel trend in India for 2021, with 85% of respondents preferring to work from scenic locations. OYO has recently released the annual OYO Travelopedia 2021, which is a research report on travel trends from all over the world.  OYO Travelopedia revealed that 61% of Indian respondents actually took a workcation and 27% of them took month-long workcations. Hill stations were the most chosen destinations for these work-cum-vacation trips, followed by hometowns and beach destinations.

2021 Was The Year Of Digital Nomads

With the emergence of work from home culture amid the pandemic, the workcation trend gained momentum in 2021 with digital nomads escaping to picturesque locations for work. The survey also found out that around 65% of respondents travelled in the last six months and most of them visited their loved ones. Some also travelled for leisure and a few others travelled for business. Also, that data revealed that OYO users spent 3,232 years’ worth of time on the OYO app in India – the highest in India in FY2021. An Indian travel agent made 1193 bookings for an OYO in 2021. A Delhi user made the biggest booking at an OYO, with 72 nights booked for 36 people. Europeans have been found to love road trips. Also, they showed a preference for vacation homes over hotels. Indians Want To Travel More In 2022!

OYO Travelopedia has found out that the top resolution of Indian respondents is to travel more in 2022. 53% of travellers have revealed that they are keen to explore offbeat domestic destinations. A large number of respondents have shown a preference for road trips. Instagram has ranked as the top platform for scrolling travel stories. Almost 50% of Indians sought inspiration for their next trips on social media platforms. 15% of respondents have said that they would like to open a savings account solely for travel purposes. The report also revealed that Bali has been ranked as the most wishlisted destination in Indonesia for 2022.
