Initiative To Boost Village Tourism & Livelihood Of Locals

According to a report in The Hindu, the Union government shall soon open villages along the China border for tourism purposes. Launched under the Vibrant Village programme, tourists can tour gorgeous villages in states like Sikkim, Uttarakhand, the Union Territory of Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh and Arunachal Pradesh. Chief executive councillor of the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Tashi Gyalson revealed to The Hindu that this programme shall not just boost tourism but also uplift the livelihood of the locals, improve connectivity and rural infrastructure of the villages.

Ladakh Villages Along China Border To Be Turned Into Astro-Tourism Destinations

Interestingly, he further stated to The Hindu that astronomers can flock to villages along the China border in Ladakh for stargazing. Villages in the Changthang region will be transformed into a dark sky destination for astronomy enthusiasts. It’s not just Ladakh, states like Rajasthan and Uttarakhand also launched night sky experiences in villages to boost Astro-tourism.
