India’s Spice King No More; MDH Owner Mahashay Dharampal Gulati Passes Away At 97

We will never forget the ever-smiling face of Dharampal Gulati on the MDH packets. Now, how many of you did you actually know that he was also the owner of MDH? Are you surprised? Yes, Mahashay Dharampal Gulati was the owner of MDH, and we are sad to inform you that the 97-year-old is no more. India’s spice king passed away early today.

There have been several memes circulating Dharampal Gulati’s age. But as we know it, no one is immortal. Gulati was undergoing treatment at a hospital in Delhi for the last three weeks. However, he suffered a cardiac arrest this morning and succumbed to it.

Twitter Flooded With Tributes For The Padma Bhushan Winner

Gulati was awarded the Padma Bhushan in 2019 for is outstanding work in the industry. The 98-year-old was the face of the MDH brand. Reacting to the news, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal tweeted, “Dharm Pal ji was very inspiring personality. He dedicated his life for the society. God bless his soul.”

Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi Manish Sisodia said, “India’s most inspiring entrepreneur, MDH owner Dharm Pal Mahashay passed away this morning. I have never met such an inspiring and lively soul. May his soul rest in peace.”
