The business community in Kanpur, in particular, has been upset by the news of the suspension by IndiGo Airlines. The problem was taken seriously by the Merchant Chamber of Commerce, and its vice president, Mayank Khanna, recently got in touch with the IndiGo headquarters.

The head office notified the Merchant Chamber that around thirty aircraft had already been grounded owing to technical engine issues and that approximately thirty to forty more aircraft will be grounded due to engine-related issues in accordance with DGCA directives between January and March 2024.

Flights operated by IndiGo had been suspended as a result, despite the airline receiving a respectable load from Kanpur. Not only has Kanpur experienced flight cancellations, but over 30 planes nationwide have also been cancelled.  (As per The Times Of India)

In addition to working to expand its fleet, IndiGo expects to successfully resume all of the cancelled and postponed flights that were approved by the DGCA starting in April. While it waits for the delivery of its own new aircraft, IndiGo is arranging to lease some other aircraft.

In India, 35.79 million domestic passengers flew when the airlines first took off in 2006–07. When combined with the number of passengers from other countries, the total number of passengers that year was 59.16 million. It is anticipated that IndiGo’s FY 2023 count will more than double the 2006 total.

The achievement occurs at a time when India’s domestic traffic is at an all-time high. With its greatest-ever domestic market share, IndiGo is expected to end the year strong. Also, it is expanding capacity at a rate never before possible.

In the history of the airline industry, December was the first month to surpass three lakh passengers per day.
