IndiGo is an Indian-brand airline and is the biggest air carrier in India. And now, it is the only Indian airline in the list of the World’s top 10 most active airlines. In a tweet, World of Statistics shared information about the most active airlines — take a look!

IndiGo Is One Of The Most Active Airlines!

According to a list shared on the Twitter account World of Statistics, IndiGo is ranked eighth globally in terms of the number of daily active flights. The airline offers the most flights in India, an average of 1,853 every day. Further, the carrier barely beats out Turkish Airlines, and Beijing Airlines, with 1,586 flights, ranks tenth. In terms of the most active airlines, American Airlines occupy the top four positions.

With 5,483 flights, American Airlines claimed the top spot, while Delta Air Lines came in second with 4,629 flights. United Airlines, with 4,213 flights, and Southwest Airlines, with 4,080, are in third and fourth place, respectively. Additionally, they are the only four airlines with more than 4,000 daily operational flights.

Ryanair, an ultra-low-cost airline from Europe, is in fifth place with 3,098 daily flights. China Eastern Airlines and China Southern Airlines, which each have 2,052 flights, are in sixth and seventh place, respectively.

Future Plans Of The Airline

As the airline begins on an ambitious long-term growth path, IndiGo announced placing a definitive order to buy 500 narrow-body planes from Airbus, making it one of the largest aircraft purchases by an airline ever. At the Paris Air Show 2023, the airline and Airbus inked a contract for the purchase of the aircraft.

Pieter Elbers, the airline’s CEO, recently stated that by the conclusion of the current fiscal year (FY24), the airline intends to have about 350 aircraft in its fleet. In a recent announcement, IndiGo said that this year will mark the beginning of direct service to six additional locations in Africa and Central Asia, including Nairobi, Tbilisi, and Tashkent. The airline has already announced direct flights from Mumbai to Nairobi, Kenya; Jakarta, Indonesia; and Delhi, India, to Tbilisi and Baku.

This is part of its “massive” international development plans.
