TikTok star Khaby Lame recently faced a visa-related issue during his visit to the United States. The influencer, widely known for his silent reaction videos, was detained at Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas. The reason? He overstayed his US visa. Thankfully, it was resolved without legal trouble, and the internet sensation has already left the country.
Khaby Lame Detained For Overstaying Visa
According to The Times of India, Khaby Lame arrived in the United States on 30 April 2025. He was scheduled to leave by a certain date but remained beyond the authorised duration of his visa. On 6 June, he was detained by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) while attempting to depart from Las Vegas.
ICE confirmed that the detention was administrative and no criminal charges were filed. The agency followed standard immigration protocol.
Voluntary Departure Granted After Brief Detention
Instead of deportation, Khaby was granted what ICE calls “voluntary departure.” This meant he could leave the US on his own, without a legal blemish or travel ban. As per reports, he left the country the same day, putting the matter behind him.
ICE clarified that such administrative detentions are routine. Khaby Lame’s situation was handled quickly and professionally. The agency also stressed that the TikTok creator posed no threat and was fully cooperative throughout the process.

News of the incident spread quickly after a screenshot appeared on ICE’s online detainee database. This sparked a wave of speculation across platforms like TikTok and X (formerly Twitter). Influencer Bo Loudon added fuel to the fire by posting an update about Khaby being “arrested.”
However, ICE clarified that Khaby Lame was not arrested. The confusion arose from a misinterpretation of the word “detained,” which in this context refers to a routine administrative hold.
