A day after the helicopter carrying Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi crashed, Iranian local media have confirmed that their president passed away. The news channels reported that there was “no sign of life” detected after the chopper carrying the president and his entourage tragically crashed in East Azerbaijan province.

After 12 hours of searching, local news has confirmed that Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and his foreign minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian died after their helicopter crashed on Sunday. The helicopter was crossing mountain terrain in heavy fog when the tragic incident happened. According to reports, heavy rains, fog, and wind caused the helicopter crash.

It has been reported that the chopper crashed near Jolfa, a city on the border of Azerbaijan. The chopper was carrying nine people – Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, Iranian foreign minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian, Governor of Eastern Azerbaijan province Malek Rahmati, Tabriz’s Friday prayer Imam Mohammad Ali Alehashem, a pilot, copilot, crew chief, head of security, and another bodyguard.
