Coronavirus is spread everywhere, and with ambiguity around us, there’s no guarantee that we will be safe from the spell of the virus. But sometimes don’t we think what if we could take a flight where we were guaranteed not to catch coronavirus? Well, if you think so too, then you must know at Alitalia is an airline that’s working to answer that question. Italian carrier Alitalia is working on protecting passengers from Covid-19 by testing travellers for the viral disease before they board select flights.

Alitalia Announces To Start Trial of Covid-tested Flights Between Rome And Milan
Italy’s national carrier has announced that it will start trial flights between Rome and Milan where every passenger has to confirm that they have tested negative for the virus. These flights are known as “Covid-tested.”
Excited already? Well, the airlines will give two options to the passengers. They can either get tested within 72 hours of flying and bringing a negative certificate to the airport or by getting a negative result of a rapid antigen test at the airport’s Covid testing facility. These flights will have a dedicated security line for extra safety. If you think that it’s all about showing a test result, then you are slightly mistaken. Since, before boarding, a Ministry of Maritime, Air and Border Health (USMAF) doctor will check the validity of the certificate already held by passengers, the airlines explained in a statement to a leading daily.

Booking Are Now For These Flights Are Open On The Airline’s Website
At present, this testing procedure isn’t significantly different from what many airlines are doing around the world. But labelling the flight “Covid-tested” could provide of mind to travellers. Travellers who are sceptical about boarding a plane amid a pandemic will be relived. As per One Mile at a Time, an aviation blog, these flights are available for booking on Alitalia’s website. And the fare is the same as the non-earmarked flights serving the route.
Recently, Rome’s Fiumicino Airport (FCO) was given the first five-star “Anti-Covid” award from international airline rating body Skytrax. The airline has transformed one of its parking lots into a mobile Covid testing facility.

However, we are wondering about the “Covid-tested flights.” Does this mean passengers would not have to wear masks on board? Well, we have to wait and hope for the best.
