Kokernag is a hidden paradise in the Breng Valley of Jammu & Kashmir’s Anantnag district. To boost tourism in the district, the J&K administration has started revamping the infrastructure at Kokernag under Prime Minister Development Project. A Tunnel In The Hilly Town To Give Round-The-Year Connectivity
According to a Hindustan Times report, the deputy commissioner has told ANI, “Kokernag is a very beautiful area. Many assests are being created here by the Kokernag Development Authority to make this place a point of attraction for tourists. The whole district of Anantnag has many tourist points but specially Kokernag, Daksum, Sinthan can be turned into a famous tourist destination.”
“Someone brought up the demand for holding a tourist festival in Kokernag. We will surely take up this matter with the tourism department so that maximum tourists pour in. A Tourist Festival Might Take Place To Attract More Tourists
The deputy commissioner has also spoken about plans to conduct a tourist festival to draw in more tourists to Kokernag. The local residents have also welcomed the plan of the J&K administration. They believe that the project will attract more tourists to the region and will also generate employment opportunities. Kokernag is around 2 hours drive from the summer capital of J&K, Srinagar.
