Kolkata biryani, Hyderabadi biryani, Lucknowi biryani or others, which is the best biryani in India? This debate is as old as time! But looks like the Japanese ambassador to India Hiroshi Suzuki has just announced his answer to the world. And the winner, according to him, is Lucknowi or Awadhi biryani! The Japanese ambassador on his visit to Lucknow couldn’t help feasting on biryani. Let’s tell you more.

Japanese Ambassador Declares Lucknowi Biryani The Best He’s Ever Had!

The Japanese ambassador to India Hiroshi Suzuki took to X to share pictures and his experiences visiting Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh. And what seems to be the highlight of his trip is the Lucknowi or Awadhi biryani. A delicately flavoured, richly perfumed biryani, this biryani is prepared by cooking the meat and rice separately, and then layered in a pot and cooked over a low flame.

Hiroshi Suzuki shared a short video of a server serving him biryani at a fine-dining restaurant. He looked super excited to dig in. The second is a picture of him sitting in front of a pot of freshly cooked biryani. In the caption, the Japanese ambassador reveals that he gorged on Lucknowi biryani for two days in a row. He also goes on to call it the “best biryani” he’s ever had. Looks like the world-famous Awadhi biryani charmed his socks off.

In no time biryani connoisseurs took to the comments section took to the comment section to suggest he try other variants. @ArunudoyB comments, “Do try both Hyderabadi and Bengal Biriyani as well. Then say which is the best”. @MonkwhoguidedSe suggests he try Bangalore’s famous Donne Biryani. @arunpudur rightly says, ” Looks like HE Hiroshi woke up and decided to chose Violence.  Now every state is going to call him to feed Biryanis. Biryani wars have begun”. He couldn’t have been more right! 

Other Highlights Of Hiroshi Suzuki’s Visit To Uttar Pradesh

Other highlights of the Japanese ambassador’s trip to Lucknow, include a visit to Bara Imambara. He shared pictures of his trip and wrote on X that he was mesmerised by the exquisite architecture of the complex. He also visited Varanasi where he relished the popular Banarasi thali and also munched on gol gappas, dahi bhalla, baati chokha and kachori chaat.

The envoy known for his love for authentic Indian food stated on X that he enjoyed the pure Banarasi thali and also witnessed the mystic night aarti in the city of temples. He went on to thank everyone for the warm hospitality. The Japanese ambassador also headed to The Residency, a complex of buildings in Lucknow which served as the residence of the British Resident General.
