Jashn-e-Rekhta is an incredible Urdu literary festival that’s been captivating audiences in India for nearly a decade. Yes, and recently after its international debut in London, which happened just three months ago, this literary fest is now coming to Dubai in January.

Regarded as the largest Urdu Literary Fest, this renowned festival will be taking over Dubai on January 27 and 28 at the Zabeel Park. Yes, according to a report by Khaleej Times, and the official Instagram account, it was mentioned that a stellar lineup of events has been curated for the attendees. As it happens, the festival is an engaging symphony of ghazals, storytelling, talk shows, and even poetry; and this is exactly what you can expect at the Dubai edition.

The event happening in January, will kick off at 1:30 PM with a panel discussion featuring popular Bollywood lyricist and poet, Javed Akhtar along with Arfa Sayeda Zehra, a human rights activist from Pakistan. And they will partake in a conversation with Adeel Hasmi. The segment is titled. ‘The Delight of Urdu Culture and Relationships’. This will be followed by Hell (Dozakh), which is basically the stage rendition of an Urdu play by Ismat Chughtai and then a soul-stirring Sufi concert by Ustad Shafqat Ali Khan. Finally, the highlight of the evening has to be the Raqs-s-Naa-Tammam. In case you’re wondering, this will basically portray the life of the legendary singer Noor Jehan.

Similarly, the second day also has some exciting events planned for the people attending the event, such as Kahaani Se Kirdaar Tak. This is an interactive session with Pakistani actress, Mahira Khan and veteran Indian actress, Shabana Azmi who will engage in an interesting conversation with Indian filmmaker and actor, Shekhar Kapur. The grand international Mushaira or poetic symposium is certainly the highlight of day two, which is also the final day of the festival.
