Journalist Shiv Aroor Calls Paranthe Wali Gali Most Overrated Place In Delhi; Netizens Say, “100% Agree”

Whether you’re a Delhiite or a non-Delhiite, you’ve most certainly heard of Paranthe Wali Gali — a narrow galli in Chandni Chowk area of Delhi lined with shops selling parathas. While Paranthe Wali Gali has adorned the wish lists of most foodies, India Today journalist Shiv Aroor called the paratha galli the “most overrated place in Delhi”. And this time, many Netizens actually agreed with him.

The Journalist Slammed Paranthe Wali Gali In Delhi

An X (formerly Twitter) user, Kartik took to the microblogging site to slam Delhi’s Paranthe Wali Gali. @Vagabond11 posted that except for Paranthe Wali Gali, the food in Delhi is decent. However, one needs Punjabi taste buds to appreciate the flavours. India Today journalist Shiv Aroor shared his post and stated, “That’s actually the most overrated place in all of Delhi. You get better parathas virtually everywhere else in Delhi itself.”

Many Netizens agreed with him and recommended other places in Delhi that serve great parathas. @rupamurthy1 commented that the parathas were too thick, soaked in ghee and unappetising overall. @SidharthBhat called Paranthe Wali Gali and most food stalls in Chandni Chowk area “overrated” due to excessive use of anar (pomegranate) and for being unhygienic.

Many Netizens commented, “100% agree to you on this one.” Another Netizen said the parathas were deep-fried in oil. @kuldeepkoul811 quipped that one can find many good paratha places near New Delhi railway station. @PavanAmin recommends Moolchand Ke Parathe and calls it better. @kanha89 said his friend from Chandni Chowk made sure they never visited that place. Instead, the duo headed to dhabas in Chandni Chowk.

When it comes to food, especially mediocre food, @Maheshshrivatsa said it’s the first time he is aligned here. And went on to also call Paranthe Wali Gali, most overrated place. Many said they can prepare better parathas themselves or have their mothers prepare it for them.

Delhiites, do you agree with the journalist calling Paranthe Wali Gali overrated? Where do you recommend we get the best parathas in the capital?
