Kashmir is one of the most breathtaking places in the country and though this has been said a million times before, it still merits reiterating. Even after being such a popular tourist destination, it still manages to have some unexplored gems. One such gem that has only recently gained popularity is Aharbal near the district of Kulgam. Recently, Aharbal witnessed snowfall and transformed into a breathtaking winter wonderland! Understandably, it is now packed with tourists!

Aharbal Sees Spike In Tourists After A Snowfall

According to an article which was recently published by The Times Of India or TOI, this particular underrated destination witnessed a record-breaking footfall last year. In 2023, it saw a whopping 310,000 tourists. This is three times the number of tourists that used to visit in the previous years.

Nestled 27 kilometres from Kulgam, the most famous attraction in this place is its mesmerising waterfall. The Aharbal waterfall is often dubbed the Niagara Falls of Kashmir. After the recent snowfall, the waterfall, too, has turned into a scene straight out of a fairytale.

It has also acted as a catalyst for attracting tourists. Many people, locals as well as people from far and wide, have flocked to the region to experience its fairytale beauty.

As per an official cited in the TOI article, the region is preparing for a grand winter carnival in the coming days. This carnival will offer a plethora of fun and engaging activities that are sure to keep the tourists thrilled and entertained.

The telos behind this carnival is primarily to attract more tourists to the region. If this happens, the local economy gets a boost. The official also stated that the roads leading to Aharbal have been cleared of snow so it is completely safe to travel to the region.
