The Kedarnath Temple, one of Lord Shiva’s twelve Jyotirlingas, stands majestically at 3,580 metres above sea level and is encircled by the powerful Garhwal Himalayas. Being one of the four locations of the Chota Char Dham pilgrimage, visiting Kedarnath temple is a tiring task! There is an 18 km trek through a paved way from Gaurikund. Also, no vehicle can travel as the path is narrow. However, the place is accessible by a helicopter ride that you can book from IRCTC.

Helicopter Ride To Kedarnath Temple

The Kedarnath Temple is one of the most significant of the Panch Kedars. Also, it is one of the 275 temples that make up Paadal Petra Sthalams. This sacred and potent temple dedicated to Lord Shiva is a must  visit! But how? Well, thanks to IRCTC, you can now book a helicopter ride to this temple by following the instructions given below:

  • The first step for booking helicopter ride is visiting https://registrationandtouristcare.uk.gov.in/ and completing your Char Dham Yatra registration.
  • The next step is to create a ‘Heliyatra account’ using the Registration Number or Group ID.
  • After creating the account, you need to choose your desired departure slot.
  • The fourth step is to complete the online payment.
  • Then carry the IRCTC Heliyatra ticket to the assigned Helipad location and start your journey.

Other Necessary Instructions To Follow

The Chardham Yatra Registration is mandatory to access the helicopter ride. Group ID is for multiple pilgrims whereas the Unique Registration Number is for the single person. For each ticket, the maximum number of passengers is six. Helicopter reservations are dependent on the Shri Kedarnath Dham Tour Date supplied during Char Dham Yatra Registration.

Children who are two years old and older will be given a seat and pay the full fare, which is the same as the adult fare. Infants younger than two years old will not be charged a price and will not be given a seat. It is required to arrive at the helipad at least an hour before the scheduled time. Also, travellers are recommended to arrive at the entry point two hours before to check-in to allow for a smooth security check process.
